Bodybuilder to face jury trial for attempted feminicide in São Paulo

A judge in São Paulo has ruled that bodybuilder Pedro Camilo Garcia Castro will face a jury trial for the attempted feminicide of his former girlfriend, physician Samira Khouri. The decision, issued by Judge Luiza Torggler Silva, noted several aggravating factors, including futile motive, cruel means, and methods that hindered the victim's defense.

The incident occurred on July 14, 2025, during Khouri's 27th birthday celebration at a rented apartment in the Moema neighborhood. The attack, reportedly motivated by jealousy, left Khouri with multiple facial fractures and required 12 days in intensive care. The judge highlighted that the defendant continued to strike the victim in the head and neck even after she had lost consciousness and fled the scene without providing aid.

Castro remains in preventive detention. The court previously rejected defense claims attempting to attribute the behavior to the use of anabolic steroids or medications, and the request for a mental insanity plea was also denied.
