Bodycam reaches record player counts following major update
The hyper-realistic first-person shooter Bodycam, developed by Reissad Studio, has seen a significant surge in popularity following its ‘Locked & Loaded’ update. The game reached a record peak of 32,855 concurrent players, effectively doubling its previous high of 16,457 set during its June 2024 early access launch.
The update introduces several new features, including the ‘Trenches’ map, approximately 400 weapon attachments, new weapons, drones, RC vehicles, and a shooting range. Beyond content, the update includes major technical overhauls to improve performance. Reissad Studio has migrated intensive game logic from Unreal Blueprints to C++ to reduce CPU load and replaced the dynamic time-of-day system with fixed lighting and weather scenarios to optimize shadow rendering.
Technical enhancements also include support for DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, and XeSS 3, along with frame generation. While the game remains in early access and utilizes peer-to-peer networking, the update introduces host migration and a redesigned VOIP system. The game continues to be noted for its distinctive bodycam visual style, utilizing Unreal Engine 5 to create highly immersive, photorealistic environments.
