Boehringer Ingelheim expands portfolio via new IPF therapy and Evax AG acquisition

Boehringer Ingelheim is advancing its strategic growth through new product launches and targeted acquisitions. In the human health sector, the company has introduced JASCAYD in Germany, marking the first new therapy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in over a decade. This launch is intended to mitigate the upcoming loss of patent protection for its blockbuster drug, Ofev.

In the animal health division, Boehringer Ingelheim acquired the Swiss biotech firm Evax AG on August 11 to bolster its equine medicine pipeline. Additionally, the company has entered a strategic collaboration with Zomedica to improve diagnostics for Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID) in horses through Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Canada.
