Boehringer Ingelheim reports Phase III success for obesity drug survodutida

Boehringer Ingelheim has released Phase III clinical trial data for survodutida, a dual glucagon and GLP-1 receptor agonist aimed at treating obesity and metabolic complications. Results from the SYNCHRONIZE-1 study, involving 725 adults, showed a weight loss of up to 16.6% compared to 3.2% in the placebo group. MRI sub-studies indicated significant reductions in visceral fat (up to 34%) and hepatic fat (up to 63%). Additionally, the SYNCHRONIZE-MASLD study found that over 84% of participants with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) achieved at least a 30% reduction in liver fat.

Parallel to these developments, medical professionals are raising concerns regarding the unauthorized sale of Retatrutide, an investigational triple agonist (GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon). In Chile, experts warn that the drug lacks sanitary registration from the ISP and has not been approved for clinical use by any global regulatory agency, despite high demand on social media.

Nutrition specialists emphasize that for those using injectable obesity treatments, maintaining results requires a structured approach. This includes prioritizing protein, vitamins, and minerals to preserve lean muscle mass and prevent nutritional deficiencies during rapid weight loss.
