Boeing aims to lift 737 MAX output to 52 per month with new Everett line

Boeing is planning to raise monthly production of its 737 MAX jets from the current 47 aircraft to 52. The company received FAA approval in May to increase output to 47 while it works to stabilise that level. Once the production rate at its Renton plant is steady, Boeing intends to add capacity using a newly opened fourth final‑assembly line at its Everett, Washington facility. The Everett line, originally built for wide‑body aircraft, will initially assemble the 737 MAX 10 and is expected to support the higher output target.

The move follows a January 2024 incident in which a fuselage panel detached from an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX, prompting the FAA to limit production and flag quality‑control issues. Boeing says it has a backlog of more than 4,000 MAX orders, providing work through the 2030s, and sees the new line as a way to reduce reliance on the three existing Renton lines while meeting demand.
