Boeing and Anduril advance in U.S. Army missile competition

The U.S. Army has selected Boeing and Anduril to advance to the next phase of competition for the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor. This system is designed to protect fixed and forward operating bases from aerial threats, including cruise missiles and militarized drones.

The Boeing-Anduril proposal features a new design utilizing a solid rocket motor (SRM) manufactured by Anduril at its Mississippi Solid Rocket Motor Complex. This facility was developed to increase supply chain resiliency and production capacity through advanced manufacturing techniques, such as a unique bladeless high-speed mixer.

Lockheed Martin has also advanced to the second phase of this competition. The Army's search for a second interceptor to complement the existing AIM-9X Sidewinder aims to fill a medium-range air defense gap that has existed since the retirement of Hawk missiles in the 1990s. Rafael Systems Global Sustainment was not selected to move forward.
