Boeing and RTX secure major U.S. defense contracts
Boeing has signed a $32.3 million agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to integrate Advanced Survivability Pods (ASP) onto P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. The project, which includes the Australian Department of Defence as a partner, is scheduled for completion by September 2029. The ASP is designed to carry AN/ALE-55 towed decoys to disrupt enemy radar and can emit electronic signals to deceive anti-aircraft and air-to-air missiles.
Separately, RTX subsidiary Raytheon has secured a $745 million contract with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency for the production and maintenance of SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missiles. These missiles, which feature improved rocket engines and kinetic warheads, will be supplied to the U.S. Navy and the Japan Self-Defense Forces to bolster regional missile defense capabilities. The contract is expected to be fulfilled by the end of 2031.
