Boeing awarded $14.7 billion contract for PAC-3 missile seekers
Boeing has been awarded an undefinitized contract worth up to $14.7 billion to increase the production of seekers for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor. The seven-year deal was issued by Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the PAC-3, to support a framework aimed at boosting air defense capabilities for Western allies.
The PAC-3 MSE is a hit-to-kill interceptor used by the Patriot air defense system to engage ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and hypersonic threats. The seeker, located in the missile’s nose, is critical for detecting and tracking targets during engagement.
To meet the increased demand, Boeing is tripling its current seeker output. The company has already invested over $200 million since 2024, including a 35,000-square-foot expansion of its facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This production ramp-up follows a broader effort to replenish interceptor stockpiles depleted by conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
