Boeing awarded $2 billion Space Force MUOS satellite contract

Boeing has been awarded a contract worth up to $2 billion by the U.S. Space Force to design, develop, build, launch‑support and test two next‑generation Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) communications satellites. The fixed‑price incentive contract covers the full life‑extension Phase II program, with satellite delivery targeted for 2035.

The award follows a competitive process in which Boeing prevailed over Lockheed Martin, the current builder of the existing MUOS constellation. MUOS provides narrow‑band, UHF communications for troops, ships, aircraft and special‑operations forces, and the new satellites will replace aging assets to maintain secure global connectivity.
