Boeing delivers 60 jets in May, a 33% rise as Airbus retains lead

Boeing reported delivery of 60 commercial aircraft in May, up 33% from the same month a year earlier. The count includes 51 737 MAX jets, marking the strongest monthly total for the model since production resumed after a 2024 strike. Boeing also handed over six 787‑9 Dreamliners, one 767‑300F freighter and one 777F cargo aircraft. Year‑to‑date deliveries reached 250 aircraft, a 14% increase over the same period in 2025.

Airbus delivered 81 jets in May, maintaining its overall lead in monthly deliveries. Boeing’s backlog remains large at 6,178 aircraft, reflecting strong demand but ongoing execution challenges. The company plans to raise 737 production from 42 to 47 units per month this summer and will launch a fourth 737 production line in Everett, Washington, on July 6 to harden its recovery.

In May, Boeing booked 27 gross orders, netting 11 new orders after accounting for 16 737 MAX cancellations. Orders included 14 737s for conversion to military variants and 10 787s for Lufthansa. Airbus recorded 379 gross orders in the same month.
