Boeing delivers final O3b mPOWER satellites to SES

Boeing has completed the delivery of the final three O3b mPOWER satellites to satellite operator SES. The spacecraft were transported from Boeing facilities in California to Cape Canaveral, Florida, to prepare for a scheduled launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in September 2026.

This delivery completes the initial 13-satellite Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellation. The O3b mPOWER network is designed to provide high-throughput, low-latency broadband connectivity to various sectors, including government, maritime, aeronautical, and remote enterprise users. The satellites utilize Boeing’s 702X software-defined bus and feature phased array antennas capable of generating up to 5,000 dynamic spot beams per spacecraft.

Following earlier power module anomalies in initial flight units, Boeing and SES implemented technical mitigations and re-engineered power system components for these final units to ensure system redundancy. Once launched and deployed, the satellites are expected to enter service by mid-2027 following orbit elevation and initialization.
