Boeing E-7A Wedgetail aircraft relocated to RAF Lossiemouth
The Royal Air Force has successfully relocated its second Boeing E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft to RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. This follows a series of tests and trials conducted at the Boscombe Down experimental center.
With two of the three planned aircraft now at Lossiemouth, the UK aims to accelerate the testing and evaluation phase. The Wedgetail is built on a Boeing 737 Next Generation airframe and features a Northrop Grumman Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array radar, which allows for targeted scanning without moving parts.
Both aircraft were recently observed airborne simultaneously, marking a significant milestone in the flight test program. Formal operational deployment will occur once all trials are successfully completed.
