Boeing engineers and technicians union recommends approval of new contracts

The Bargaining Unit Councils (BUCs) of SPEEA, the union representing Boeing engineers and technicians, have recommended that members approve two new contract offers from Boeing. This recommendation follows a previous rejection of contract offers by union members in August.

The new proposals include increased compensation compared to previous offers. According to union spokesperson Bryan Corliss, the primary change is in the amount of money allocated for raises. The professional unit, representing approximately 13,000 engineers and scientists, and the technical unit, representing about 4,000 specialists, both reached the required 60% supermajority to issue these recommendations.

Voting is scheduled to begin on Thursday and will continue until noon on October 1. The results will be announced that afternoon. Both current contracts are set to expire on October 6. Boeing and the union are seeking to avoid a strike that could disrupt production rates for the 737 and 787 aircraft models.
