Boeing reaches preliminary wage agreement with SPEEA engineers
Boeing and the SPEEA engineers' union have reached a preliminary agreement on a new collective bargaining contract, aiming to avert potential strikes before the current contract expires on October 6. The deal follows the rejection of a previous 3% wage increase proposal by union members who cited inflation concerns.
The new package includes a guaranteed 10% wage increase starting in mid-October, an additional 4% increase in March 2027, and annual wage pools of 6% through 2030, with a minimum guaranteed floor of 4% each year. Beyond compensation, the agreement revises policies regarding remote work, overtime limits, and professional development.
Union leadership described the deal as a ‘real step forward’ for compensation and working conditions, even while noting it does not meet every demand. For Boeing, the agreement seeks to stabilize its highly specialized workforce and provide cost predictability as the company works to improve production reliability and safety standards.
