Boeotia wildfire investigation focuses on electrical grid

The Arson Crimes Directorate (D.A.E.E.) has conducted its first inspection regarding the devastating wildfire that originated in Agios Vasileios, Boeotia. The investigation was ordered by the Thebes Magistrate to examine the technical details and construction specifications of the overhead electrical network.

Investigators focused on the power line connecting the local wind farm to the central electricity transmission grid, which is the suspected origin of the blaze. The inspection team included ten specialized officers and experts in electrical and mechanical engineering, alongside technical consultants for the defendants.

The fire, identified as the largest of the current summer season, affected more than 110,000 acres across Boeotia and Western Attica. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities evaluate all technical findings and evidence collected during the site visit.
