Boeun County proposes one-way traffic system on Samsan-ro
Boeun County is moving forward with a plan to implement a one-way traffic system and expand sidewalks along a 400-meter section of Samsan-ro in Boeun-eup, stretching from Jungang Intersection to Dongdari Intersection. The project, which aims to improve pedestrian safety and reduce congestion caused by illegal parking and narrow walkways, is expected to begin in the second half of 2025 with a budget of approximately 1 billion won.
During a recent public briefing, residents expressed support for the goal of improving pedestrian environments but raised significant concerns regarding the lack of operational countermeasures. Key issues identified include potential disruptions to city bus routes, difficulties with parking lot access, and reduced accessibility to traditional markets. Residents are calling for more detailed studies on how the change in traffic flow will impact local commerce and transportation logistics before implementation.
