Bogdan Česnik enters Nova Gorica mayoral race as independent

Bogdan Česnik, the director of the Regional Development Agency ROD Ajdovščina, has officially announced his candidacy for mayor of Nova Gorica. Running as an independent candidate with his own list, ‘Nov zagon za Novo Gorico’, Česnik joins an increasingly crowded field that includes incumbent mayor Samo Turel, Marko Rusjan, and Matevž Vidmar.

Česnik’s platform focuses on three primary pillars: providing affordable housing for young people and families, driving economic and developmental breakthroughs, and ensuring more balanced growth across the entire municipality, including rural areas and local communities. He emphasizes using municipal land as a development tool to accelerate housing construction and advocates for a closer connection between the economy, universities, and development institutions.
