Bogdan Peșchir accused of voter corruption via TikTok gifts

Bogdan Peșchir, known on TikTok as ‘bogpr’, faces accusations of continuous voter corruption related to the Romanian presidential campaign of independent candidate Călin Georgescu. Prosecutors allege that between October 13 and November 27, 2024, Peșchir provided benefits totaling approximately $290,225 to influence voters.

The investigation details 868 virtual gifts sent from the ‘bogpr’ TikTok account to 105 users, valued at over $251,000, alongside cryptocurrency transfers totaling roughly $39,160. While Peșchir admitted to sending virtual gifts, he maintains that these were not conditioned on political choices and denied knowing Călin Georgescu personally, claiming he supported the candidate through public engagement.

Leaked transcripts from the legal case suggest Peșchir offered to use his financial resources and technical expertise to boost Georgescu’s visibility on social media platforms. However, the documents do not currently show evidence that Peșchir received payments from Georgescu in exchange for this support. Peșchir remains under the presumption of innocence as judicial proceedings continue.
