Bogdan Shumarov eyes title shot via Rukiya Anpo fight
Bulgarian kickboxer Bogdan Shumarov believes a victory over Rukiya Anpo at ONE SAMURAI 4 could reopen his path to the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship. The bout is scheduled for October 17 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
Shumarov views the matchup as a critical title-eliminator opportunity to challenge reigning champion Regian Eersel. The fight also marks Anpo’s first appearance in the lightweight kickboxing division under the ONE Championship banner, following his featherweight debut against Marat Grigorian.
Regarding Anpo’s transition to a heavier weight class, Shumarov noted that while the Japanese striker may be less explosive than during his time at 67 kilograms, he remains a dangerous opponent. Shumarov expressed confidence in facing Anpo at 77 kilograms, noting that Anpo has previously competed at heavier weights in boxing.
