Serbia's RIK processes coalition withdrawal and list corrections
The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) of Serbia is managing several developments regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25.
In one significant move, the RIK confirmed the withdrawal of the ‘Izbor naroda’ list, submitted by the ‘Narodna Srbija’ coalition. This decision has raised concerns among commission members regarding a ‘legal vacuum’ concerning the order and numbering of lists on the final ballot, which could potentially lead to manipulation or harm to other campaigns.
Separately, the Bogoljub Karić – Pokret snaga Srbije – BK list has been ordered by the RIK to rectify deficiencies within 48 hours. The commission identified 449 invalid voter support statements and requested verification of the legal right to vote for candidate Danijela Sinadinović. If these issues are not resolved, the list may be rejected.
Additionally, the RIK has officially proclaimed the ‘HNV - Hrvatska nacionalna vizija - Jasna Vojnić’ list for the elections of the National Council of the Croatian National Minority, which will take place on November 8.
