Colombia advances regional infrastructure and road connectivity projects
Colombia is seeing several regional infrastructure and security developments. In the southwest, the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has enabled a new 6.5-kilometer second carriageway between Jamundí (Valle del Cauca) and the Villa Rica junction (Cauca). This project, which includes the 120-meter Guillermo Valencia bridge, aims to reduce travel times to under 15 minutes and alleviate congestion on the Pan-American Highway.
In Bogotá and Funza, a $21,036 million agreement was signed to improve road connections to El Dorado Airport, seeking to reduce reliance on Calle 13 and Calle 80. Meanwhile, Ibagué has approved an additional $4,200 million for urban and rural road maintenance. In Casanare, officials are prioritizing road corridors like the Cusiana route and the Yopal bypass to improve regional connectivity.
Regarding security, authorities in Tumaco have launched intensified inspection and surveillance operations in the ‘Zona Rosa’ to prevent brawls and improve road safety. In Córdoba, the governor is seeking energy and mining sector improvements through meetings with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and private sector representatives.
