Bogotá and Villa Elisa launch bike‑theft and safety campaigns

The Bogotá District Security Secretariat has started the "Sigamos Rodando" campaign to curb bicycle theft in the capital. The initiative focuses on prevention, public awareness and tighter coordination with cyclists, targeting high‑risk districts such as Suba, Kennedy, Engativá and Ciudad Bolívar. Police units conduct patrols in 14 localities, and the city’s bike‑registration platform, Registro Bici Bogotá, now lists over 560,000 bicycles, helping recover stolen bikes.

In Villa Elisa, Argentina, the municipal government has intensified its "Bici Segura" programme. The campaign promotes responsible cycling among children, teenagers and families through school visits, safety‑focused audiovisual material and enforcement of local ordinances beginning 1 August. The effort includes educational talks, promotion of protective equipment, and sanctions for non‑compliance, aiming to improve road safety for cyclists and skateboarders.

Both cities are using public outreach and enforcement measures to encourage safer, more secure cycling environments for their residents.
