Colombian municipalities implement urban, economic, and cultural initiatives

Various Colombian municipalities and the capital city are implementing diverse administrative, economic, and cultural initiatives.

In Bogotá, the City Council is advancing a ‘Smart City’ project aimed at modernizing the tax system and funding intelligent public lighting, while the Secretary of Education is seeking a new 10,000-square-meter administrative headquarters. Additionally, the city is offering international training and scholarship opportunities through its International Relations Office.

In Cali, the City Council approved a significant tax relief package, including property tax exemptions and interest waivers, to assist over 54,000 households and businesses affected by a recent earthquake. Meanwhile, the city is working with Bogotá’s urban renewal agency to transform local infrastructure.

In Montería, Mayor Hugo Kerguelén García received the ‘100 Innovative Leaders’ award in Spain for the Las Lagunas Botanical Park project. The Mayor is also coordinating with the national government to build the city’s first theater. In Rionegro, the local government has allocated over 595 million pesos in stimuli to support 52 cultural projects, including new initiatives for rural areas and youth talent.
