Colombia security forces dismantle ELN cell, highway gangs, and illegal medical ring
Colombian security forces have conducted several major operations targeting various criminal activities across the country. In Cesar, a joint operation involving the National Police, GAULA, and the Army resulted in the capture of Fabián Yesid Contreras Contreras, an alleged key member of the ELN's Camilo Torres Restrepo Front. Authorities also seized 4,950 rounds of high-caliber ammunition and other materials during this mission.
In Cundinamarca, the 'Escudo de la Sabana' operation dismantled two criminal groups, 'Los Rápidos' and 'Los Pinchallantas.' These gangs specialized in highway robberies and kidnappings, using tactics such as deploying spikes to puncture tires or using fake ambulances to simulate accidents. Seventeen individuals were arrested in connection with these activities.
In Bogotá, the Gaula Militar and the Fiscalía General de la Nación arrested Esteban Felipe Henao and Ruth Verónica Lengua. The pair allegedly operated an illegal medical network in Usaquén, performing invasive aesthetic procedures without professional credentials. The investigation suggests they affected over 200 people and collected more than 568 million pesos through these unauthorized services.
