Bogotá City Council members face scrutiny over vehicle washing costs
The MIRA political party has called on the president of the Bogotá City Council, Humberto ‘Papo’ Amín, to eliminate the use of public funds for washing vehicles assigned to city council members.
Council member Samir Bedoya Piraquive argued that the request is based on the principle of fiscal austerity and responsibility. He stated that if the Council demands efficiency and restraint from the District Administration, those same standards must be applied within the institution itself. The party emphasized that public resources belong to citizens and that every expenditure should be scrutinized for necessity, especially following recent district tax reforms that increased burdens on households and businesses.
