Bogotá expands data center capacity by 500%

Bogotá is undergoing a significant expansion of its digital infrastructure to support cloud services, digital transactions, and artificial intelligence. According to a report by Cushman & Wakefield, the city currently has 58 megawatts (MW) of operational capacity in data centers but projects an additional 300 MW through planned projects. This represents a potential increase of over 500% compared to existing infrastructure.

The city currently hosts 23 operators and 30 operational facilities. A major project by ODATA is currently under development, designed to contribute 120 MW, a volume that exceeds the city's current total operational capacity. While Bogotá is categorized as a secondary market in the Americas compared to hubs like São Paulo, Querétaro, and Santiago, the scale of its upcoming developments marks a significant shift in its regional digital footprint.
