Bogotá expands LGBTI inclusion with free education program and month‑long Equality Festival

The Bogotá district government announced two major initiatives to support the city’s LGBTI community. Through the Subdirectorate for LGBTI Affairs, the Secretariat of Social Integration opened enrollment for flexible education programs for the second academic period of 2026. The free courses target LGBTI persons, their families and support networks, and also extend to other vulnerable groups such as older adults, youths, people with disabilities and the general public. Applicants must be adults and provide basic identification, a recent utility bill and, if available, a prior academic record. The program links with over 9,300 free training slots offered by the National Learning Service (SENA) to improve employability.

In parallel, the District’s Diversity and Gender Directorate launched the Festival for Equality Bogotá 2026, running from 13 June to 17 July. The festival features cinema cycles, fairs, outdoor concerts, academic debates and ecological walks across multiple city venues. Highlights include the Pride Bazaar at Theatron, the 18th anniversary march of the LGBTI South, a special “Ciclo Rosa” film series, mural projects, and a series of community conversations aimed at ending conversion therapy. The agenda is designed to promote LGBTI rights, foster safe public spaces and showcase diverse cultural expression.
