Bogotá hosts Mozart festival featuring Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia

The XV International Sacred Music Festival of Bogotá (FIMSAC) featured a series of Mozart performances in Colombia, celebrating the composer’s 270th anniversary.

As the guest country, Spain was represented by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, led by violinist and conductor Roberto González-Monjas. The ensemble performed a comprehensive Mozart program at the Iglesia de San Ignacio, including all five violin concertos, the Requiem (Robert Levin version), and the Coronation Mass. The performances included collaborations with the National Chorus of Peru and the National Chorus of Colombia.

Other festival highlights included performances by the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the National Chorus of Colombia at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo. Programs featured works such as Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter,” the Sinfonia concertante, and “Exsultate, jubilate.” Soloists included Eliana Piedrahíta, Esther Yoo, and various instrumentalists performing the Sinfonia concertante.
