Bogotá implements new mobility pilot programs to reduce traffic

Authorities in Bogotá and Mosquera are implementing new mobility pilot programs to alleviate traffic congestion. Starting Monday, October 5, a one-month pilot will affect Calle 13, a major connection between the capital and western municipalities. From Monday to Friday, between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., the direction of traffic will be temporarily modified on three strategic corridors: Carrera 128 (northbound between Calle 13 and Avenida La Esperanza), Avenida La Esperanza (eastbound between Carrera 128 and 103), and Carrera 103 (northbound between Avenida La Esperanza and Calle 26). This measure aims to provide alternatives for the approximately 14,391 vehicles that use this corridor during morning peak hours.

Additionally, a reversible lane pilot on Carrera Séptima will facilitate travel out of Bogotá toward the north on Saturdays. Between 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., two lanes will be enabled in a south-to-north direction between Calle 193 and Calle 245. This adjustment follows an initial session where officials identified a need to expand the operating hours to better distribute the approximately 5,300 vehicles that typically exit the city via the Autopista Norte on Saturday mornings.
