Latin American nations secure multilateral funding for infrastructure and economic growth

Latin American nations are securing significant multilateral financing to address infrastructure gaps and economic challenges. In El Salvador, CAF is supporting the 'El Salvador Vuela' program with $320 million for airport expansion and has approved $400 million since 2022 for educational modernization. Additionally, the Salvadoran legislature has moved to approve a $50 million IDB loan for a new Economic Census and statistical system upgrades.

In Bolivia, President Rodrigo Paz Pereira announced $10 billion in agreements with the IMF, World Bank, IDB, and CAF to drive economic reactivation over the next three years. Argentina has also officialized $530 million in loans from the IDB and CAF to fund road infrastructure in Entre Ríos, water supply in Chubut, and tax administration reforms.

Regional development efforts include a $21.3 million credit line for the Amazonian bioeconomy in Ecuador. Meanwhile, the IDB has warned of a $630 billion transportation infrastructure deficit across Latin America, noting that nations must commit approximately 1.3 percent of their annual GDP to close this gap.
