Bogotá expands library board‑game collection and planetarium summer program

The Public Sports Library in the Chapinero district of Bogotá added 72 new board games to its permanent collection, part of the BibloRed initiative to strengthen local libraries through 2026. The acquisition was coordinated by the Chapinero Local Development Fund and the District Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sport. Library director Ángela Portela said the games are “valuable didactic tools to promote interactive learning and cultural participation.” Notable titles include ‘Autumn’, ‘Transbordo Bogotá’, the strategy game ‘Scythe’, and family‑friendly versions such as ‘Catan Junior’.

Separately, the Bogotá Planetarium, managed by the District Institute of the Arts (Idartes), opened its summer vacation schedule for children and youths from 20 June to 5 July 2026. Highlights are the “Stories under the Stars” camp sessions held on specific dates in the planetarium dome, and a 3‑D scanning laboratory for ages 8‑15, both requiring modest fees. The program aims to foster scientific curiosity and provide safe recreational space during the school break.
