Bogotá Media Marathon 2026 draws over 40,000 runners
More than 40,000 athletes from over 60 nations took part in the 2026 Media Marathon of Bogotá on Sunday, July 26. The race featured 10‑km and 21‑km courses that began and finished in Simón Bolívar Park, passing through major avenues such as NQS, Avenida Chile and the streets of the city's north‑south axis.
The city’s Institute of Urban Development (IDU), working with the mayor’s office and the Institute of District Recreation and Sports (IDRD), repaired and resurfaced over 144,000 m² of road surface along the routes, fixing potholes and restoring asphalt. This work is part of a broader program that has refurbished more than six million square metres of Bogotá’s road network, improving safety for both competitors and everyday commuters.
The event is regarded as one of Latin America’s premier athletics competitions, highlighting Bogotá’s role as a regional sports hub.
