Bogotá Metro Authority closes major TransMilenio station for construction

The Empresa Metro de Bogotá (EMB) ordered the total closure of the south lane of the temporary Avenida Jiménez station on the TransMilenio system. The night‑time closures run from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and continue over weekends, with a complete pedestrian crossing shutdown at Caracas Avenue and Calle 8. Passengers must use alternative entrances on Calle 10, and the work supports the viaduct erection for the upcoming elevated metro line.

In the neighboring municipality of Soacha, the extension of the TransMilenio trunk along the Autopista Sur is 74.1 % complete. Key works include removing a traffic light at the 3M sector, constructing an underground passage, and upgrading supporting structures to ease vehicle flow between Bogotá and Soacha. Governor Jorge Emilio Rey highlighted that the project aims to reduce congestion and improve pedestrian infrastructure along the corridor.
