Bogotá Metro documentary premieres on Canal Capital

Canal Capital is releasing a documentary titled ‘El viaje de una ciudad, la hazaña del Metro de Bogotá’ (The Journey of a City, the Feat of the Bogotá Metro). The film explores the construction of the city's first metro line, described as the most significant infrastructure project in Bogotá's recent history.

Beyond technical specifications—such as the use of 150,000 tons of structural steel and massive volumes of concrete—the documentary focuses on the human impact of urban mobility. It follows the daily lives of residents, such as María Eugenia, who face long commutes via the Transmilenio system, which currently moves four million passengers daily. The film highlights how the new metro line aims to return time to citizens, potentially saving commuters up to two hours every day.

The production emphasizes that efficient transportation is a tool for guaranteeing essential rights like health, education, and work, while also noting the importance of institutional continuity in completing such long-term urban projects.
