Bogotá Mobility Secretariat outlines vehicle color change process

The Bogotá Mobility Secretariat (SDM) has outlined the requirements and procedures for vehicle owners wishing to officially change their vehicle's color. The process is managed through the Ventanilla Única de Servicios (VUS) at 19 designated locations across the city.

To complete the procedure, owners must pay a fee of $314,300. Mandatory requirements include being registered in the Registro Único Nacional de Tránsito (RUNT), possessing a valid SOAT insurance policy, and having no outstanding national traffic fines or infractions.

Applicants must schedule an appointment via the official website. Required documentation includes a national ID, a completed application form, a formal letter specifying the new color, and either vehicle imprints or certification from the manufacturer, assembler, or importer. If a third party manages the process, a signed mandate contract is required. Failure to update vehicle documentation following aesthetic modifications can result in a B7 traffic infraction.
