Universidad Nacional de Colombia tightens Bogotá campus security

The Universidad Nacional de Colombia has implemented new security measures at its Bogotá campus. Effective August 18, all students, faculty, and staff must present their institutional ID cards at entry points to enhance protection for the community and university assets following recent incidents of violence.

Visitors, alumni, and contractors are also subject to stricter controls, requiring identity verification and, in some cases, documented justification for entry. While the requirement to use IDs was established in 2019, the university is now enforcing the rule with greater rigor.

Separately, the university has extended the registration deadline for the PEAMA program until Monday, August 24. This extension, intended to facilitate access to higher education for youth in specific regions, follows adjustments made due to recent earthquake-related emergencies. Admission for this program will be based on state test results from 2020 to 2026 rather than a traditional entrance exam.
