Bogotá prepares 30th‑anniversary Rock al Parque festival for Oct 2026
Bogotá is marking the 30th edition of Rock al Parque, Latin America’s largest free rock festival, scheduled for October 10‑12 2026 at Parque Simón Bolívar. The city’s Instituto Distrital de las Artes (Idartes) is coordinating a citywide program under the theme “Rock al Parque: 30 AÑOS / Bogotá, ciudad Rock”, featuring concerts in venues such as La Media Torta and neighborhood pop‑up stages to showcase local talent.
The celebration began on 2 May at the Bogotá International Book Fair with the launch of a commemorative book, “Rock al Parque: 30 años: Bogotá y las voces de la tras escena”, by historian Tatiana Duplat, which highlights the festival’s history and the growing role of women in performance and production. Public institutions are adding cultural elements, including the “La Rockera” sculpture by artist Maquiamelo that links to a digital archive of all participating bands via QR code.
Canal Capital will broadcast the event, while the Archivo de Bogotá mounts an exhibition of the festival’s milestones. A musical‑journalism forum with Fundación Gabo, podcasts by journalist Eduardo Arias, and interactive “Rockápsulas” stations aim to deepen public engagement. Security, health and mobility agencies are coordinating to accommodate the expected hundreds of thousands of attendees.
