Bogotá school zone bus incident prompts safety calls

On the morning of July 27, a public‑transport SITP bus in the La Gaitana sector of Suba, Bogotá, reportedly sped and collided with a mother’s bicycle near Colegio República Dominicana. The mother and her child escaped injury by stepping onto the sidewalk, but the bicycle was left on the road and the driver continued without stopping to assist. No one was injured, yet the incident sparked concern among parents and students about high‑speed traffic in school zones.

Parents have urged SITP drivers to respect speed limits and called on local authorities to strengthen traffic controls and enforcement around schools to prevent future accidents.
