Bogotá security report shows rising crime despite improved public perception

The 2025 Integral Security Index in Localities, released by ProBogotá Región, reveals a paradox in Bogotá: while citizens' perception of safety in their neighborhoods has improved, actual crime victimization has increased.

On average, the proportion of people who consider their neighborhood safe rose by 29%, and positive ratings for National Police services increased by 37%. However, direct victimization—the experience of being a victim of a crime—rose by an average of 11%, while indirect victimization (witnessing a crime) increased by 4%. The city's overall index stands at 4.82 out of 10.

Fontibón ranked first in the index with a score of 5.70, marking its first time leading the rankings in six years. Usaquén followed in second place with 5.66 points, showing significant recovery in perception and reductions in vehicle theft, despite challenges in operational results. Usme took third place with 5.60 points. Conversely, Antonio Nariño dropped to the bottom of the rankings, while Los Mártires moved out of the last position for the first time.
