Bogotá UAESP reopens two crematorium ovens at South Cemetery

The Unidad Administrativa Especial de Servicios Públicos (UAESP) officially resumed operation of the two cremation ovens at the Cementerio Distrital del Sur after completing extensive technical and preventive maintenance. Director Armando Ojeda announced that the facilities were handed over to the concessionaire Inversiones Montesacro S.A.S., whose manager Anderson Tavera confirmed the infrastructure is ready for continuous 24‑hour service.

The restoration enhances the capacity of Bogotá’s public cemetery network, ensuring efficient, respectful and environmentally compliant funeral services for residents. The Secretaría Distrital de Ambiente granted the necessary environmental permits following verification of emission‑control systems.
