Bogotá water service suspended in Usaquén due to pipe damage

Several neighborhoods in the Usaquén locality of Bogotá, including Santa Bárbara, La Carolina, Unicentro, Lisboa, Cedritos, and Cedro Narváez, have been without water service since Sunday afternoon.

The Empresa de Acueducto de Bogotá reported that the outage was caused by an “unforeseen damage to the Tibitoc pipeline” located at Avenida 9 and Calle 129. Crews are currently performing excavations to repair the damage.

The repair work has resulted in road closures on Carrera 9 between Calle 131 and Calle 127C, and authorities recommend using alternative routes such as Carrera 10. The water company stated that service is expected to be restored by Monday afternoon, though residents may notice a temporary change in water color, which will not affect potability.

Priority for water tanker deliveries is being given to institutional sectors, including health centers, geriatric homes, foundations, and community kitchens.
