Río Uruguay levels rise following heavy regional rainfall

Heavy rainfall across the Río Uruguay basin and surrounding regions has triggered rising river levels and significant weather alerts. In Uruguay, storms in the north caused extreme precipitation, with Quintana recording 320 mm in 48 hours and Rivera seeing 750 people affected by damage and flooding.

The Comisión Técnica Mixta de Salto Grande (CTM) reports an ascending trend for the Uruguay River. In Argentina, the river exceeded 8 meters in Concordia and is forecasted to reach a maximum of 9.40 meters. The Salto Grande reservoir level is also rising, with projections reaching 34.70 meters as discharge rates are managed between 12,000 and 13,000 m³/s.

In Argentina's agricultural regions, recent storms provided critical moisture, with Entre Ríos recording 104 mm in Federación. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, the Yacyretá reservoir showed a slight decrease in water levels, with the current level at 82.93 msnm.
