Bogotá water utility suspends Eastern Hills trail access for election weekend
The Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (EAAB) will temporarily close public access to the ecological routes on the Eastern Hills on Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June 2026. The suspension is intended to concentrate personnel and logistical resources on the second‑round presidential election held across the capital. Access is scheduled to resume on Tuesday 23 June once official vote counting is completed.
EAAB urges hikers, athletes and regular users to reschedule their trips using the district’s virtual reservation platforms and to cancel digital entry codes if they cannot attend, allowing other citizens to take the freed slots. The agency also advises checking the online "Caminos de los Cerros Orientales" portal for updates and reporting any technical issues through the Bogotá Te Escucha channel.
