Bogotá’s Heritage Institute expands services, opens new exhibition

The Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural (IDPC) in Bogotá announced two major initiatives. Starting on July 29, the IDPC launched the “Arquitecturas del Patrimonio” exhibition cycle at the Palomar del Príncipe venue, offering free public access. The opening showcase highlights the work of architect Julio Enrique López, whose drawings document historic city sites such as Parque Santander, Plaza de Bolívar, and the former San Francisco convent.

In parallel, the IDPC reported that it processed 3,830 heritage-related procedures between June 2025 and July 2026, cutting erroneous filings by 25 %. New “Aprobatones” sessions allow approvals for minor interventions in under 20 minutes. The achievements earned formal recognition from the Bogotá City Council, with councilmember Sandra Forero Ramírez praising the institute’s faster, more transparent service to citizens and property owners.
