Bogotá's Joropo al Parque 2026 festival draws Colombian and Venezuelan folk artists

The fifth edition of Joropo al Parque will be held on July 11‑12, 2026 in Bogotá’s Plaza de Simón Bolívar. Organized by the Instituto Distrital de las Artes, the free‑admission event showcases the llanero tradition with performances by Venezuelan bandola virtuoso José “Cheo” Hurtado, master guitarist Armando Martínez, Colombian groups Bandolas del Llano Adentro, Víctor Julio Rojas, and the Academia Cabrestero from Villavicencio.

A pre‑festival academic session, the “Los lenguajes del cuatro y el arpa llanera” conversation, takes place on July 10 at the Planetario Auditorio, featuring Hurtado, researcher Darío Robayo and folk specialist William Macualo. During the two‑day celebration, a Zona de Arte y Emprendimiento will host local artisans and small businesses, promoting regional crafts and commerce.
