Bogotá's TransMilenio Extends Tender Deadline for New TransMiCable
TransMilenio published an amendment on the SECOP II platform extending the deadline for economic proposals on the San Cristóbal aerial cable‑car project to 31 July. The procurement, valued at about 390 billion Colombian pesos, will grant a concession lasting ten years and four months.
The selected operator must deploy an intelligent management system with automatic speed detection and dynamic scheduling for 144 cabins, install solar panels on the cabins, and implement a gender‑focused hiring program for women in surrounding neighborhoods. The 2.8‑km line will serve more than 400 000 residents, move roughly 4 000 passengers per hour in each direction and cut travel time from 45 minutes to about 10 minutes between the high‑altitude area and Portal 20 de Julio. Community participation led to the naming of stations Portal 20 de Julio, La Victoria and Senderos de Altamira.
