Colombia expands and modernises Sisbén social registry amid service changes
During the presidential runoff (June 19‑22), the municipality of Dosquebradas suspended all in‑person and online Sisbén procedures because of security measures on the national SisbenApp platform. Services were expected to resume on June 22.
The city of Barranquilla opened a sixth Sisbén assistance centre in the Montecristo neighbourhood, aiming to reduce travel barriers for residents, especially migrants and returned citizens.
Bogotá will begin a two‑year transition of the Sisbén database to a new Registro Universal de Ingresos (RUI) on 1 July 2026. The RUI will draw data from 47 public entities to create a more dynamic socio‑economic classification; preliminary estimates suggest about 615,000 people could be re‑classified upward and roughly 957,000 downward.
Cali’s municipal government organised a free “Registratón” from 22‑25 June 2026, allowing subsidised‑health‑regime affiliates to request their Sisbén survey at four city hospitals, also offering health‑affiliation and migrant‑permanence services.
