Bohemia Interactive releases DayZ Badlands expansion

Bohemia Interactive has launched DayZ Badlands, the largest expansion in the history of the survival game DayZ. The new content is available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.

The expansion introduces Nasdara, a 267 km² arid region located in western Takistan. The landscape features oil industry remains, border crossings, and abandoned settlements. Players must contend with new environmental threats, including extreme heat, drought, and sandstorms. Water plays a critical role in survival, serving both for hydration and as a means to regulate body temperature.

Key gameplay additions include a reconstruction system that allows players to repair ruined buildings, wells, and irrigation tunnels to create shelters. New transportation options such as motorcycles have been added, along with a subterranean system of irrigation tunnels, road tunnels, and underground bunkers. Some urban bunkers require specific coordinates and access codes, which players may discover via Morse code radio broadcasts. The expansion also introduces new regional weapons, equipment, and fauna, including mouflon, desert monitors, and two types of dogs.
