Bohemian Paradise road project faces criminal complaint

Opponents of the planned I/35 road project through the Bohemian Paradise region have filed a criminal complaint. The coalition of associations, SOS Český ráj, alleges suspicion of failure to fulfill duties in the management of third-party property.

Spokesperson Jan Piňos stated that the northern route was selected based on incorrect studies and failed to undergo required legal tests for efficiency and economy. The group claims that preparatory work has already caused hundreds of millions of crowns in damages and warns that constructing the northern route could cost the state budget at least 10 billion crowns.

In response, Jan Rýdl, spokesperson for the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD), stated that the project has been repeatedly presented and explained. He emphasized that the project respects the landscape, nature, and local municipalities while fulfilling regional development goals. The Directorate expressed readiness to provide all documentation to the police if requested.
