Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso approves all-member voting for upcoming election

The Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso association has approved a decision allowing all members to vote in the upcoming presidential election on September 13, regardless of their current financial status with the association. This decision was reached during an Extraordinary General Assembly presided over by current president Rossy Amoedo. The election will determine the leadership for the 2027–2029 term, with candidates Márcio Azêdo, Diego Mascarenhas, and Carmona Oliveira participating.

The electoral process has faced significant tension. Reports indicate that members of the Electoral Commission, led by Judge Mauro Moraes Antony, have allegedly faced intimidation and threats from individuals linked to the “Caprichoso de Todos Nós” campaign, headed by Carmona Oliveira and Juarez Filho. These pressures reportedly occurred during the analysis of candidate challenges.

Additionally, legal challenges have been filed against the Oliveira campaign, citing potential disqualifications due to various convictions in the Amazonas State Court. The challenges include questioning financial reports and decisions from the Amazonas State Court of Accounts regarding resources allocated to the association.
